Two Races in One

School Mile - Grades 4 and up
Open Mile - general participation

This event is designed to encourage participation by young athletes, and offer established runners a fast outdoor mile!

The event's races are run on a completely closed course on The Boulevard beside Quidi Vidi, starting near the Bandstand and finishing just past the bridge at the bottom of the Lake. Runners will depart the start in waves according to their pace or grade so everyone will get a good start.

Chip timing, Open age group and School awards, and a unique race await you!

2025 Results

Nicholas Hawe lead a fast field, with 4 runners under 5 minutes, to win the 2025 Open Mile in 4:36. The top woman was Grace Mack in 5:02.

A high turnout of runners for the School race saw Prince of Wales Collegiate, Juniper Ridge, and Vanier Elementary taking top honours in the team classifications. There were some notably fast school times as well!
